My name is Jazmyne Sharp-Mackelprang, and I am a choreographer and dance educator based in Utah. I am currently studying at Utah Valley University, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Dance Education and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Modern/Contemporary performance.
I have been teaching at a dance studio for the past three years and am passionate about helping students grow both technically and artistically. My goal is to enhance student performance while creating a learning environment that is engaging, educational, and supportive. I have a strong interest in the connection between dance, the body, and the brain, and I enjoy continuing to learn alongside my students.
I specialize in a variety of styles, including Hip-Hop, Modern/Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, and Musical Theatre. I also offer instruction in composition and improvisation techniques, as well as flexibility and strength training. I bring knowledge of dance history and leadership skills into every rehearsal space, and dancers develop both as performers and as individuals.
My dance training began at a local studio, where I trained for seven years. In high school, I was a member of the drill team for four years, which further developed my passion for performing and working as part of a team.
Outside of dance, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and being outdoors. I have always loved being in nature and take every opportunity I can to spend time outside.
